Some fun shots from our trip…
This is a spider that caught a fly while we were checking him out. Spiders here are harmless, and their webs are wimpy. Just a strand or two, but somehow they stay fed.
Quick story about this red tutu. I just learned to make these with the help of my mother-in-law. I’m making them in all different colors because I just love seeing Aspen in tutus along with her everyday outfits. But I wanted something really small… this one may even be too big for what I was going for… anyway, this is right before we went to lunch (she put her boots on herself… I switched them to her turquois Converse right afterwards). At our favorite Mongolian grill (tons of them locally owned here) the owner approached us THREE times to tell us how much she loved Aspen’s style. Best part was when she asked my husband if she dressed herself (I actually took it as a huge compliment because I love when kids look like kids). I was a big Punky Brewster fan as a kid
. She even stopped us on the way out the door to ask if she could hold her. Luckily Aspen is not as shy as she used to be. She loved the attention. It was pretty cute. Moral of this story that I said would be quick, but actually was long: nothing brings the party like a little red tutu.
The Imaginarium is a hand-on learning/play place downtown.
So that’s how the 80s actors got their hair to do that special feather/spike thing! I’ll give anyone 10 points to send me a picture of the actor he looks like! I can’t pinpoint it, but he looks so familiar! I’m thinking Brat Pack 80s, but I don’t think it’s one of them… Emilio Estevez maybe?
Fun and exhaustion go hand in hand…

I’ve photographed this cutie twice before. In fact, she was the last one I photographed before we moved last Fall. And as it turns out she was the first one I photographed during our summer visit. She has grown SO MUCH in a short time! Her mom was right when she said her happiest place is in her mom’s arms. Aren’t her big baby blues to die for?
Just so love this half-smile.

Here are more model pics from last week. We’re loving it here on our little vacation, but dang I hear Michigan has had some good weather since we left… and I spent the day in a fleece sweater here in Alaska.

Last weekend I joined a group of fellow photographers from all over the States and Canada in sharpening our photography skills and getting inspiration from one of the best child photographers in the business. The biggest highlight for me was when we got to photograph over 30 child models in a really cool urban location. Seriously, it was a photographer’s dream! I’ll add a few as I edit them. Here is just the tip of the iceberg… Enjoy!
